It's Emily and Meredith here, two of the Promotion and Marketing Department interns for this summer. It's been a busy week here at Channel 3! Promotion and Marketing has been working on a bunch of different projects. Luckily for us, we got to go on location and see the behind the scenes steps to building a promo for Channel 3.
First, we got to watch Romona Robinson film two new promos that will be running throughout the summer. Channel 3 is introducing a new series of spots depicting everyday heroes in Cleveland. Romona's first promo was about Channel 3's focus on telling the real life stories of people in our community, which will tie into the upcoming Hero Central series. We got to help out by timing the shoot to make sure it was commercial length and using an HD FlipCam to shoot B-roll that the station might be able to use for another project.
The second promo is an invitation for the community to tune into Channel 3 News and see all the great things that it has to offer. This time we went from behind the scenes to in front of the camera! We were extras in the background! Look for Meredith walking over to Emily across the back of the screen! It's our small screen debut!
On Friday, we ended our week by spending the afternoon with some of the most important (and intimidating!) men in Cleveland: members of the Cleveland Police Department, Sheriff's Office, and the US Marshall Service. They were shooting a spot that was also part of the Hero Central series, as well as a commercial for the Violent Fugitive Task Force. It was great to see all of them coming together for such an important cause.
Take a look at some videos of our week posted down below! Make sure to check back for another blog post soon to learn more about intern life at Channel 3!
