RTA General Manager Joe Calabrese and his staff had proposed on Wednesday that 15 bus routes and the Community Circulator lines be eliminated, and that about 110 people be laid off.
But at the special RTA Board meeting called to act on the proposed cuts, which would have gone into effect on August 23, board members were divided.
Two days of phone calls and discussion between board members and RTA staff and management still has not produced a decision on how to eliminate a $5 million dollar deficit, and stop it from growing to a projected $10 million.
RTA spokesman Jerry Masek says the inability to reach a decision on budget cuts means any reductions in staff and service would likely have to wait until mid-September.
The Board does not meet again until July 28.
