The old saying goes..."a ring around the moon, rain soon". Take it for what its worth! You will see a ring around the moon when cirrus clouds are present high in the atmosphere. The ice crystals with in these clouds reflect the light of the sun in such a way, it gives the illusion there's a ring or circle around the moon.
