Sarah Hamilton, of Copley, was the youngest Friend to Friend breast cancer profile Senior Health Correspondent Monica Robins had ever met.
She was diagnosed at age 21 after the disease had already spread to her bones. Her cancer was discovered after her leg spontaneously broke.
During surgery, doctors found breast cancer cells had already spread to her bones. Chances are she had the disease in her teen years.
While her case is uncommon, she believes education may have saved her. But at the time, most thought she was too young to do monthly self-exams.
She filled her life with love, family and friends and left behind a lifesaving legacy. A life she hoped others would learn from.
