NORTHEAST OHIO -- High floodwaters throughout the area are causing road closures and voluntary evacuations throughout the area.

Here is a rundown of some of the major closings and flood-related activities going on around the region:

Road Closures/Conditions

Brooklyn

  • Tiedeman between Brook Park Road and I-480

Brook Park

  • Smith Road, south of Sheldon

Cleveland

  • MLK between Superior & I-90
  • Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Rainforest closed due to flooding

Cuyahoga Falls

  • Riverview between Ira and Bath

Elyria

  • Closed at Furnace and West River
  • Huron Street by rail road tracks closed
  • 100 block of Stanford closed
  • W. 16th and Infirmary Road closed
  • Grafton and Fuller closed

Independence

  • Granger at Route 17 is flooding near the Route 21 overpass
    • I-480 and Rockside Road are suggested detours around the flood water
  • Brookside & Riverview
  • Old Brecksville Road to Fuhrmeyer Road
  • Route 21
  • Elmwood Park
  • Old Rockside Road

Massillon

  • Evacuations of 2700 block of South Erie Street
    • Large sinkhole and gas line broken and the gas started leaking
    • Gas company and water company called
    • One vehicle was stuck in the sinkhole about 3 feet wide
    • One person went to the hospital to be checked out

Medina

  • Evacuated a few houses from 3800 block of Granger Road
  • River Styx Road closed

Middleburg Hts.

  • Old Oak Blvd. between Southwest General Health Center and Polaris Career Center 
  • South Eastland Road and Fowles Road
  • Sheldon Road between Dan's Dry Dock and Sheldon Road Townhouses
  • Smith Road between Paula Drive and Wood Creek

North Olmsted

  • All schools closed
  • Burns Road closed
  • Minor pockets throughout city has flooding -- mainly through high school area of Burns and Revere Roads

Olmsted Falls

  • Lakeview Drive
  • Bathwood

  • Lindberg

Painesville

  • Flood command monitoring water levels
  • EMS at river monitoring
  • River over 13 feet, concern that it will reach 14 feet
  • Mandatory evauation for Steel Avenue near the Grand River
  • Main Street between Grand River and Steel Ave.
  • Harvey High School evacuation site
  • River is at 13.3 feet; predicted to flood; some residents on standby

Parma

  • Brook Park & Tiedeman Roads
  • Brook Park & Big Creek Parkway

Ravenna

  • Police assisting in the trailer park areas

  • Big Creek Parkway from Pearl Road to W. 130th
  • West Lunn closed from Foltz Industrial Parkway to Prospect
  • Main Street closed at the bridge

Valley View

  • Canal Road

Vermilion

  • Some personal basements flooding
  • Schools closed

Westlake

  • Columbia at the railroad tracks and First Street
  • Water's Edge and Detroit Road 
  • Clague Road from Westwood to Center Ridge
  • Olive Horseshoe
  • Canterbury Road to Rose -- closed into North Olmsted

Willoughby

  • Apollo and Lost Nation closed
  • Daniels Park closed
  • Emergency services has called businesses on Apollo to be prepared to evacuate
  • Riverside and Riverbend residents have been notified that flood stages are coming
  • River overflow at Gilson Park and Powleton Road at about 8 a.m.

Willoughby Hills

  • Whites Road and SOM Center
  • White at Oakview

  • Lakeland between 337 and East 305th

  • S.R. 39 between Twp. Road 749 and South Mt. Vernon Ave. in Green Twp.
  • SR-60 at County Road 775 in Vermillion Twp. is closed
  • SR-302 at County Road 175 in Perry Twp. is closed
  • SR-603 between U.S. Route 30 and U.S. Route 42 is closed
  • SR-603 is closed at the intersection of State Route 430

Geauga County 

  • 422 is shut down at Trumbull & Portage county lines
  • Trask Road closed
  • Vrooman Road closed
  • Leroy Road closed

Huron County

  • U.S. 250 between Omega Road and the Ashland County line in Greenwich Township is closed

Lake County

  • Auburn Road closed 
  • Hermitage Road from Morlee, south to Pinecrest
  • Route 20 at Arcola in Madison

Medina County

  • SR-57 at Lester Rd. in York Township is closed
  • SR-252, .5 mile north of State Route 303 in Liverpool Twp. is closed

Stark County

  • Santa Clara Apartments in Louisville being evacuated
  • Flooding in Mt. Pleasant and Middlebranch
  • Additonal Canton road closings on wkyc.com

Summit County

  • S.R. 236 between Portage St. and Strauser St.
    • The detour for this area will be SR 93 to SR 21 to Lake Street.

Tuscarawas County 

  • Kerns Drive in Lawrence
  • S.R. 93 in the Village of Dundee to S.R. 250
  • S.R. 39 at Dover, exit 1 mile west of I-77
  • C.R. 21 in New Philly
  • Area near York Elementary School

Wayne County

  • SR-83 from Madison Ave. to the Holmes Co. line is closed at various locations
  • SR-302 between West Old Lincoln Way and Silver Rd. in Wooster Twp. is closed. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR-302 to Old Lincoln Way, west on Lincoln Way to U.S. Route 250, west on U.S. 250 to Silver Road, east on Silver Road to SR-302. Reverse for eastbound detour
