WESTLAKE -- Smash-and-grab thieves broke the front windows of the Apple store at Crocker Park Friday and stole multiple items before escaping.

The incident happened just after 4:30 a.m. Friday. The store's burglar alarm went off and surveillance cameras captured the incident.

While Crocker Park residents living above the many pricey boutiques slept, three burglars smashed through the Apple store's front door and went to work.

"Shocking because there is a lot of security around here. I come in all hours of the night and it's very safe," Resident Nicole Cupp said.

Safety was a selling point to Crocker Park Cupp. She moved here a year ago from Oklahoma on the advice of friends.

This is her first brush with neighborhood crime.

"Crime can happen anywhere. I wouldn't move just because of it.  I feel very safe," Cupp said.

In less than a minute, the police report stated, three masked men were able to grab one iPod and 24 laptop computers, according to Apple store management.

No one was injured and all three men escaped before police arrived.

Westlake police are continuing the investigation.
