AKRON-CANTON AIRPORT -- A spokesperson for the Akron-Canton Airport says flights have resumed after being halted due to flooding issues at the main terminal.
Heavy rains swamped the basement of the airport's main terminal knocking out power.
All inbound and outbound flights had to be halted while a half foot of water was pumped out. A temporary generator providing electricity had to be shut down while the water was removed.
As of noon, a release from the airport indicated operations were back to normal again. However, passengers are urged to check with their airline for possible cancellations or delays.
Much of Stark County is dealing with high water and road closures after the same storms that inundated the Cleveland area moved south.
The National Weather Service estimates nearly 5 inches of rain fell over a period of about three hours overnight.
