CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Councilmen Jeff Johnson and Zach Reed say there is a pressing need to address the recent epidemic of deadly and violent shootings.
They also said Wednesday that the city needs to find the money to rebuild Cleveland's police force.
They spoke out Wednesday afternoon at the corner of E. 144th Street and Glendale Avenue, the site of the most recent shooting Tuesday night.

Johnson and Reed stressed the need for immediate action to address the growing issues of violence and limited resources of the Cleveland Police Department.
"Since the start of September, our city has had six violent shooting incidents with nine residents either injured or killed. This is unacceptable and we can no longer wait for meetings and discussions to formalize," said Reed.
"We as a city must find a way to raise revenue to bring back police officers and provide our city's police department with the resources they need."
Johnson said, "There are a number of discussions and proposals to address violence as part of the city's Healthy Cleveland initiative, but the need for action is now. A summit to discuss violence is needed, and we call for a frank and open discussion to combat this issue head on without delay."
Joining Johnson and Reed was Black Shield Police Association president Marcus Sappho
