CLEVELAND -- Super Bowl week is the time to score big when it comes to buying that new TV, but you need a game plan to find the best deal.
"Right now, this time of year, the bigger definitely the better," says Jon Gensel with HH Gregg.
The week leading up to the big game means a rush to find that big screen. Retailers like HH Gregg are offering the deepest discounts on screen sizes 50 inches or larger.
Price analysts with Display Search also say the off-brand televisions are marking down their flat screens.
"We do see that most of the advertisements for the really screaming deals aren't necessarily from the top name brands," says Paul Gagnon with Display Search.
Gagnon says retailers will advertise certain prices for the week from the Sunday prior through Saturday. But on Super Bowl Sunday itself, prices could drop again if stores didn't sell enough during the week.
Had your eye on a flat screen on Black Friday? Don't expect the same price you saw in a holiday ad. Research shows Black Friday is still the true Super Bowl of shopping.
"A lot of the promotional deals aren't as good as we saw during the holiday season."
