CHARDON, OHIO -- The death of a second student in the Chardon High School shooting has been announced at a mid-morning news conference.

Chardon Police Chief Tim McKenna announced that Russell King Jr. died at 4:49 a.m. Tuesday morning.

A few hours later, MetroHealth Medical Center announced a third student, Demetrius Hewlin had also passed away.

Two other students remain hospitalized from their injuries. The death of Daniel Parmertor was announced Monday just hours after shots were fired inside the school.

The teen taken into custody in the shootings, TJ Lane, is scheduled for a court appearance at 3:30 in juvenile court. An update from that hearing will be provided at an afternoon news conference set for 4:30 p.m. It's expected the prosecutor will speak at that time.

The Chardon School District remains closed for a second day, but plans were announced at the news conference for returning students to the classroom.

On Wednesday, February 29 high school teachers and staff are to report to the high school while K-8 teachers and staff are to report to Munson Elementary.

On Thursday, March 1, students and their parents are invited to return to the students' respective schools. Parents are encouraged to come to the buildings with their children to help ease any concerns. The superintendent stated emphatically at the news conference that students will be safe.

Classes are scheduled to resume at the district's schools on March 2.

Grief counselors will be made available for students, staff and parents throughout the week.

Prayer vigils are planned for again tonight.
