CHARDON -- He's been hailed as a hero for chasing the Chardon High School shooting suspect out of the building on Monday. But when he made his first public comments at a press conference on Thursday, an emotional Frank Hall did not want the "hero" label.

Instead, the assistant football coach said the first responders and law enforcement officials are the real heroes.

During his remarks, Hall had a few words for the victims' families.

"I want you to know that I was with them. I prayed with them, I wiped their tears and I know God was with them," he said. "I don't know why this happened. I only wish I could have done more. I'm not a hero, just a football coach and a study hall teacher."

He finished his remarks by reading scripture.

The suspect, T.J. Lane, faces multiple charges connected to Monday's shootings, including three counts of aggravated murder.
