CLEVELAND -- If you're one of the countless viewers who've emailed the Ways 2 Save inbox for iPad discounts, you're in luck today -- on a previous generation.
Apple is expected to release the anxiously-awaited iPad 3 -- or iPad HD as it's likely to be called -- around noon eastern time today.
In fact, you might be reading this after the big news has dropped and that means discounts on the original iPad, iPad 2 and a handful of accessories.
First, a note on iPad discounts. Apple strictly controls the pricing on all of its current generation products. That means if you see any of those auction sites offering an iPad for $50 or a significant discount on the newest model, the sale is unauthorized and bogus.
The only time we'll see discounts are on the previous generations on and pre-owned/refurbished products.
I noticed that many stores have been receiving returns of the iPad 2 over the past week as word broke of the new iPad on its way. That means people who barely opened the box or used their iPads for a couple of hours returned those items as part of the return policies at various stores. Those returns are now being sold as "pre-owned" even though they've barely been used.
That's where today's savings come in.

This afternoon, I'd check Best Buy's daily deal site Cowboom.com for discounts that are expected to drop as low as $199 on the original iPad Newegg.com is also worth a look.
