Local chefs serve up their masterpieces for a good cause

CLEVELAND -- Not only do Cleveland area chefs serve up the best food, but they have the biggest hearts.

Chefs from Northeast Ohio cooked up their specialties for patrons at two area restaurants.  Proceeds will benefit the families affected by the shooting at Chardon High School on February 27, 2012 through the Chardon Healing fund at PNC Bank as well as the United Way.

On the Eastside patrons gathered at Flour Rustic Italian Kitchen in Moreland Hills to get a taste test.  There were various food stations set up to sample the fare.

On the Westside party goers got together at AMP 150 at the Cleveland Airport Marriott.

Over 30 local chefs thought this would be a great way for them to help.  "We heard what happened and didn't even think twice -- it's a no-brainer," says Flour owner Paul Minnillo. "Your heart just goes out for those kids and their families, and you just want to help in any way you can."

When Dinner in the Dark organizers Brian Okin (Fountain) and Jeff Jarrett (AMP 150) heard about the Chardon shootings, they were already putting finishing touches on their monthly event.

"Then Paul Minnillo told me he and some others wanted to do something in his restaurant, and he had the March 19 date set, so we decided to do an East Side-West Side kind of thing," says Okin.
