NORTH ROYALTON -- North Royalton fire crews are investigating a large apartment fire at Spruce Run Apartments, off of Royalton Road, early Wednesday morning.

No injuries are reported. All of the residents inside were safely evacuated, said the North Royalton Safety Director.

The fire was contained quickly and is under control. Crews at the scene are still working to extinguish hot spots.

A total of 12 units were affected by the fire. Fire walls inside the building helped slow the spread of the flames, the North Royalton Fire Chief said.

The fire started in the back of the building, somewhere between the second and third floors, officials believe. 

Investigators are not yet sure whether the fire started on the inside or outside of the apartments.

North Royalton crews first got the call on Spruce Run Drive from the building's alarm system at about 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, followed by a number of 9-1-1 calls.

Fire departments from Broadview Heights, Parma, Parma Heights and Strongsville all assisted.

No cause has been named yet, as the investigation continues.
