Burning River Lacrosse is set to hold the fifth annual Fisher House Charity Lacrosse Showcase at Hawken School's Walton Stadium on Saturday.
What began as a couple of high school lacrosse games played for a good cause has evolved into a full-day of lacrosse games and family friendly activities that now represents one of the largest, one-day events associated with Fisher House.
This year's event will features four high school varsity lacrosse games, four high school JV game and one middle school game.
Since 2008, Burning River has raised approximately $180,000 through the yearly event for the families of wounded service men and women and the Greater Cleveland Fisher House.
There is at least one Fisher House at every major military medical center. The national organization's mission is to provide a free "home-away-from-home" for America's military families, so that they can be with their severely wounded or ill service member during a stay at a military care facility.
This year's fundraising goal is to raise $44,000 and sell 2,500 tickets. Through sponsorships, donations and the sale of program ads, T-shirts and presale tickets, Burning River has already secured $25,300.
Tickets are available the day of the event or in advance by contacting Burning River at (216) 373-5684.
Burning River director Woody Calleri and U.S. veteran Loren Mount stopped by the set of WKYC-TV Channel 3's "Good Company" on Monday to discuss Saturday's showcase.
