CLEVELAND -- A series of massive concrete piers are now scratching Cleveland's sky as construction continues on the Innerbelt Bridge project.
While it doesn't look much like a bridge yet, construction officials say the project is on schedule and should be ready to open to all traffic by the fall of 2013.

This project has been a massive undertaking several years in the making.
During the spring of 2009 ODOT announced plans to construct a new westbound Innerbelt Bridge, utilizing federal transportation stimulus funds made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Construction of the new westbound bridge will be followed by construction of a new, similarly designed, eastbound bridge.
To get a better understanding of what's involved with the bridge's construction, ODOT is offering free tours to the public of the construction site twice a month now through September.
If you plan on taking one of the tours, you must make a reservation HERE, sign a pair of waivers and dress appropriately with long pants and hard-soled, closed-toed shoes. You can expect to walk about one mile on the tour, which lasts approximately 30-45 minutes.
The first two tours scheduled for this Friday are already full.
