AKRON -- The medical examiner has identified a man who died in an early morning collision between an ambulance and SUV.

Collins D. Green, 57, of Akron died of his injuries after the two vehicles collided at West Cedar Street and Wabash Avenue at 3:20 a.m. Police say Green was a backseat passenger in the SUV and not wearing a seatbelt.

Police say the ambulance was southbound and the SUV eastbound when the vehicles entered the intersection at the same time. Traffic signals were not operating at the time due to a power outage.

The driver and two other passengers in the SUV suffered minor injuries.

The ambulance crew and patient onboard were not hurt. The ambulance was transporting the patient on a non-emergency basis and did not have light or siren in use, according to police.

No citations have been issued. The collision remains under investigation.
