CLEVELAND -- Browns general manager Tom Heckert's draft-day gamble last year is about to pay off.
Heckert traded down in the first round a year ago, giving the No. 6 overall pick to Atlanta and acquiring the Falcons' first-round pick this year (No. 22) as well as a fourth rounder.
The additional first-rounder should enable the Browns, who also have the No. 4 overall selection, to acquire playmakers for an anemic offense that scored just 218 points last season.
Heckert will have a league-high 13 picks in the draft, which begins Thursday night.
Alabama running back Trent Richardson is believed to be one of the Browns' preferences at No. 4, and it's possible they'll use one of their other top picks (No. 22 or 37) on a quarterback to compete with incumbent starter Colt McCoy.
