CANTON --- Minor injuries are being reported after a school bus carrying students home from a field trip collided with a traffic control truck in Canton.

Troopers tell WKYC, that the bus driver had been distracted by a grandchild also riding the bus just prior to impact.

Six to eight children were taken to Aultman and Mercy hospitals for treatment of bumps, bruises, headaches and other minor injuries.

The remaining students were placed on another bus to return them home. Some parents arrived at the scene of the crash, Route 30 and Trump Avenue, to pick up their children.

The students, from an elementary school in Minerva, were returning home from a trip to the McKinley Monument.
