Fundraiser set for shooting victim Kayla Allen

COLUMBIA STATION -- There's a special fundraiser Thursday night for Kayla Allen, the 10-year-old girl who died Tuesday after she was shot on April 12 by her own father inside a Cracker Barrel restaurant.

The fundraiser, which was announced on the Kayla Allen Benefit Fund Facebook page, is being held at Barbarino's Family Restaurant at 23871 Sprague Rd. For It's $25 to get in and features a buffet with all-you-can-eat pizza, wings, pasta and salad. The price also includes unlimited soft drinks and coffee. Alcohol will be available for a discounted rate.

The buffet goes from 7-9 p.m. while live music entertains from 7-11 p.m.

Kayla had spent nearly a month in MetroHealth Medical Center after she was shot by her own father inside the Cracker Barrel restaurant on Tiedeman Road in Brooklyn.

Kayla's father also shot her mother, Kate Allen, and her sister, Kerri Allen. Both died at the scene.

Police later shot and killed the father as he attempted to leave the restaurant and refused to drop his gun.

The family had been celebrating Kerri's 10th birthday when the shootings took place.
