CLEVELAND -- Business just down the street from Cleveland's Horseshoe Casino is booming.

Volks Jewelry and Loan, well-known as a Cleveland fixture, is trying to keep up with demand.

"We do see people coming in and we hope we're going to see more people," says Burt Kay, with Volks.

Volks has been in the same location for more than a century but it's a new era on Prospect Avenue.

More people need "play" money.

And with the 24-hour casino, keeping up with demand will mean opening Volks for longer hours.

"To stay open 24 hours is a big undertaking," says Kay, who says they're hoping to, at first, extend hours into the evening.

Pawning is popular and can be easy.

First: Bring the bling.

Second: Burt or one of his experts determines its worth.

Third: Burt makes an offer

By the end of the day Monday, one ounce of 24-carat pure gold was worth $1,585.
