PARMA -- You could totally see it. For nearly 30 minutes the unexplained object was visible. Blurry, but visible. Almost like a ball of blue gas, it would wisp and whirl around before going back to a stagnant state. Then, without warning, it was gone. Floated away.

In November 2007, surveillance video from a Parma Marathon gas station at State and Pleasant Valley captured a mysterious blue object that immediately stirred up loads of attention. We aired a story about it on Nov. 15 that year. The footage even landed on CNN.

Here it is on the History Channel:

Many people believed it was a glowing ghost.

Others believed it was simply a blue plastic bag.

For years there were plenty of guesses but no definitive explanation of the strange footage... until now.

The Parma gas station ghoul became the central focus of a national television show Tuesday night as the crew from SyFy's "Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files" investigated the blue ghost.

Through a series of experiments, the investigative group tried to determine if the strange object was something that could be explained.

They tested a hoax theory that maybe somebody was pulling a prank on the gas station by shining a laser pointer at the camera. But it didn't create the same result.

They tried to see if it was possibly a blue plastic bag floating around in front of the camera. Nope. The test proved it wasn't that either.

So was it a ghost?

Was this proof of the paranormal?

Is there an eerie entity lurking around the Parma pumps?

Not so fast.

The team noticed the part of the building to which the surveillance camera is affixed is painted blue. They thought that maybe the mysterious moment was just a bug on the camera's lens giving off a blue glow from a reflection of light off the building and from the infrared camera itself.

When they placed a small insect on the camera, their footage was nearly an exact match to the November 2007 video.

Their conclusion: The epic glowing ghost was nothing more than a bug walking on the lens.

If you missed this episode, which initially aired on May 22, SyFy will re-air it at 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on May 29 and then again on June 15 at 5 p.m.
