CLEVELAND -- Mayor Frank Jackson spent Thursday in Columbus trying to get his school transformation plan to the finish line.

He just about succeeded.

After a day of meetings with key players, including legislative leaders, bill sponsors, Governor John Kasich and others, a deal that the legislature will approve was reached.

But the vote will not come by the Friday deadline Mayor Jackson had hoped.

It will be voted on and approved when the legislature reconvenes next month.

Details of the plan will be disclosed and explained at a Friday afternoon city hall press conference.

The mayor had hoped to meet his own Friday deadline to begin working on a campaign to sell a November levy. That promises to be a challenging task as well.
