Highway Patrol: Fatal crash involving bicycle, truck

DANBURY TOWNSHIP -- A woman was killed after a truck runs her over after she was thrown off the bicycle early Saturday evening.

The accident occurred at the Peninsula Motel and RV Camping area on state Route 163.

At 6:55 p.m., when a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by David A. Rhine, 71, of Lima, from Lima, was eastbound in the parking lot of the motel and stopped at the end of the black top.

That's when Wendy K. Bollenbacher, 55, of Clyde, was riding her Huffy bicycle northbound on the gravel driveway approaching the Silverado.

She attempted to turn left and lost control. She was thrown off the bicycle, landed under the truck as the truck was pulling forward, and the truck drove over her, troopers said.

Rhine was not injured in the crash.

Bollenbacher was taken by Lakeside fire and EMS to Magruder Emergency Room where she died from her injuries.

Troopers stated that Rhine is not suspected of consuming alcohol, but Bollenbacher is suspected of consuming alcohol.

No citations were issued in this crash.
