The Triple Crown chase has ended again this year without a winner after Belmont favorite I'll Have Another was scratched and then retired Friday morning.
Thistledown and other regional tracks had been counting on the Belmont and the hype surrounding the Triple Crown chase.
Still with I'll Have Another out, the field is wide open and the Triple Crown races always bring in bigger crowds to local tracks, giving fans a taste of the pageantry of thoroughbred racing.
Jockeys like Jane Magrell are looking forward to seeing a big crowd. "When you walk out on the track and you see the apron full of people and families, ... it just makes you feel so good. I mean, I may be riding a long shot but they're cheering me on, that feels good."
