CHARDON -- The trial of TJ Lane for the Chardon High School killings is now scheduled for Aug. 14. That date is likely to change since it is expected his attorneys will waive the right to a speddy trial.

Lane, 17, is accused of killing three students -- classmates Daniel Parmertor, 16, Demetrius Hewlin, 17, and Russell King Jr, 17 -- as they waited in the school cafeteria Feb. 27.

Lane has already pleaded not guilty but his attorneys say he will be changing that plea soon to "not guilty by reason of insanity."

Lane is also accused of wounding students Nick Walczak, Joy Rickers and Nate Mueller.

If found guilty, he faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.

Despite the fact that he is being tried as an adult, because he was 17 at the time of the shooting, his age under Ohio law prevents him from getting the death penalty.

Lane is is charged with three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of felonious assault.

He is being held on $1 million bond, set by Geauga County Common Pleas Judge Forrest Burt.
