NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio -- A pregnant woman was trapped in a car that was run off the road in North Ridgeville Wednesday night, police said.
The woman, and a man driving the car, were headed west on Sugar Ridge Road, near Maddock Road, when another vehicle crossed the center line, forcing them off the road, where they crashed.
The second vehicle left the scene.
The man freed himself and was not seriously injured.
Police found the vehicle upside down in a ditch, with the pregnant woman trapped inside.
Police and fire crews were able to free her from the car and she was taken to St. John Medical Center, and later to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
There is no word on her condition. Police are not releasing the victims' names.
The car that drove away was described as a white newer model four door car, possibly a Buick.
