Fugitive of the Week wanted in kidnapping, assault

CLEVELAND -- The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information that would lead to the capture of fugitive Matthew Burgess.

Burgess is wanted by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office for failure to appear on charges of kidnapping, assault, resisting arrest, drug possession and carrying a concealed weapon.

It is alleged that on Nov. 11, Burgess was seen by Cleveland Police assaulting a female victim in a parked car. When the officers attempted to arrest Burgess, he fought with them and was ultimately restrained.

Officers discovered that Burgess was carrying a handgun in his waistband and he was also found to be in possession of narcotics.

Soon after his arrest, Burgess was released on bond.

On Feb. 2, a warrant was issued for Burgess when he failed to appear for his court hearing.

Burgess, 21, is black, stands about 5'09" and weighs 150 pounds.

He is known to frequent the area of East 116th Street and Miles Avenue.

Burgess has a violent criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous.
