CLEVELAND -- Police are investigating the shooting of a cab driver taking a fare from Cleveland casino to the east side.

Police say it happened about 2:15 a.m. Monday near East 71st Street and Cedar Avenue.

Police say that a cab driver picked up two men at the Horseshow Casino and took them to a home on East 70th Street.

The men then got out, said they didn't have the money to pay the fare, and said they would come back with the money.

When they didn't come back, the driver got out of the cab and went towards the house.

That's when police say three men jumped from behind the bushes in front of the house. All of the men were wearing masks and had guns, the driver told police.

The driver started running away and was shot in the upper thigh of his left leg.

Police were called and the driver was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was treated and released later Monday morning.
