EATON TOWNSHIP -- An Olmsted Falls man died Wednesday night after striking a deer while riding on his motorcycle on Island Road about 9 p.m.

Bruce D. Oberacker, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another motorcyclist riding behind him, Charles Bigam, 52, also of Olmsted Falls, was seriously injured and was taken by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Neither man was wearing a helmet.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the two men were riding northbound on Island Road when a deer ran out in front of Oberacker and he struck it.

In trying to avoid hitting Oberacker and the deer, Bigam swerved to get out of the way and crashed.

Both men were thrown from their Harley Davidson motorcycles onto the roadway.
