COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Average gas prices in Ohio have dropped more than 20 cents over the past week, though drivers still are paying more than they were at this time last year.

A gallon of regular gas averaged $3.43 in Monday's survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express. The average a week ago was 22 cents higher at $3.65.

A year ago, the cost was about $3.38.

Oil prices remain near eight-month lows.

The cost of crude has plummeted over the past two months amid increasing signs of a slowdown in the global economy, led by Europe, that could reduce demand for crude.

Nationally, the average price for regular gas is about $3.41, down a dime from last week.
