VERMILION -- The Erie County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Columbus man, 20, at a church overnight camp at the Beulah Beach Camp and Retreat.

Deputies charged assistant team leader Justin D. James, of Columbus, with sexual battery against a 16-year-old male camper.

James is being held in the Erie County Jail on bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Vermilion Municipal Court.

Deputies say they were called to the camp Saturday morning and spoke with James. He admitted that the 16-year-old had stayed in his room Friday night. James said they gave each other back massages, then fell asleep.

According to a deputy's report, James then told deputies that he then performed oral sex Twice on the sleeping teen.

In the morning, the 16-year-old told his team leader what had happened Friday night and was crying. Camp officials then contacted the sheriff's department.

The group was from the Christian Community Church in Columbus.
