MENTOR -- Mentor Municipal Court Judge John Trebets found Linda Palecek, 35, of Painesville, guilty of child endangering after she left her two daughters, 11 and 15, along the side of State Route 2 on March 31 and drove off.

Trebets sentenced Palecek to 180 days in jail, all but five of which were suspended, court records show. Palecek was also sentenced to six-months of probation and has to pay a $250 fine.

The police report stated that Palecek and the 11-year-old were arguing over the child's custody because the girl said she wanted to go live with her father.

The report then states that Palecek pulled the vehicle over and the 11-year-old got out of the car.

Her sister, 15, followed and both refused to get back in the car. That's when Palecek drove off, leaving them there.

The girls called their father and he came and picked them up.
