AKRON -- Multiple people were arrested over the weekend for their alleged roles in unrelated robberies -- one of those suspects reportedly stole just $5.
Akron Police say it was around 9:30 p.m. Sunday when two people were robbed while waiting in the drive-thru line at a restaurant in the 600 block of East Market Street.
The victims reported that a man approached the passenger side door window and demanded money.
They handed him $5 and he fled the scene. Several minutes later, police say they spotted the man, identified by police as Shawn Cook, 31, of Akron. He was arrested and charged with robbery.
The other weekend robbery happened shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday when three men were robbed at gunpoint as they walked in the 500 block of Sumner Street.
The victims reported the suspects had approached them from behind and demanded their personal property. According to Akron Police, the suspects knocked the victims to the ground and went through their pockets, taking cell phones, wallets and cash before fleeing the scene.
Responding officers located the men walking on Brown Street and arrested all three following a brief foot chase. Those arrested include Demont Freeman, 18, of Massillon; Michael Graves, 20, of Canton; and Gavontye Lott, 20, of Akron.
They have each been charged with aggravated robbery and booked into the Summit County Jail.
