BEREA, Ohio -- The Ohio Turnpike is trying to relieve concerns of neighbors that a vehicle may plunge off the toll road into their homes south of Cleveland.
The turnpike says it will install a concrete barrier wall for a one-mile stretch of the westbound lanes in North Royalton by the fall. The barrier wall will replace guardrails.
The turnpike said Thursday that a barrier wall will be installed along eastbound lanes in the same stretch next year.
State Rep. Mike Dovilla of Berea, a turnpike commission member, had asked about the safety issue. He says the barriers also will provide better noise protection than guardrails.
