CLEVELAND -- 61-year-old woman shot in the head while trying to break up a family fight.
Cleveland Police tell Channel 3 News the shooting happened at 6 p.m. Monday near Stevenson Road and St. Clair Avenue.
The victim's niece and another family member were fighting when the shooting victim tried to intervene. The niece pulled out a gun, there was a struggle, and the woman was shot in the head.
Cleveland Police say the woman shot was conscious, talking and breathing at the scene. EMS took her to MetroHealth Medical Center where she is currently in stable condition.
The woman's niece, who shot her, left the scene in a tan Nissan. A little while later, Richmond Heights Police arrested her.
Per police, the shooting suspect was taken to the Central Prison Unit and will be charged with felonious assault.
