GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Alleged drag racing on Interstate 480 East led to a crash that sent three people to the hospital early Monday morning.

The driver lost control of the car about a half mile before the Broadway Avenue exit, going airborne into a ravine, police said.

Police were called to the crash just before midnight late Sunday night.

One female was thrown from the car. She was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Two males in the car were also taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

Two eastbound lanes were closed on I-480 for at least an hour.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors at this stage of the investigation.

The other alleged drag racing car fled the scene and has not been located.

Garfield Heights police and fire departments were assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
