CLEVELAND -- A 23-year-old man who police say tried to rob a convenience store is dead after the store's owner fought back.
Police say the man entered the store on Cedar Road just after 2 p.m. in an attempted robbery. The store's owner moved to stop him and the two got into a physical struggle first that led to gunfire.
The owner was shot in the arm and taken to the hospital. The man who attempted to rob the store died of his injuries.
The Medical Examiner's Office has identified the suspect killed as Jonathan ward, 23 years old.
Neighbors and friends rushed to the store as word of the shooting spread. Many say the violence simply must stop.
The store has seen violence before. On December 11, 2008, 33-year-old Kamal Sulaiman was shot and killed at the store, on a different robbery attempt. Police say Sulaiman is the store owner's brother.
