CLEVELAND -- Catholic churches are beginning to re-open after closing down for nearly three years.

The first to be opened was Saint John the Baptist in Akron. They held there opening mass at 10 a.m.

Father Jonathon Zingales praised the opening saying, "Our goal is to be women and men in faith because we have been called by Jesus, each one of us."

Saint Casimir was the second catholic church to open Sunday morning.

Tina Girod with the St. Casimir Alumni Group says, "To have the Vatican change the suppression of a church and a parish is just wonderful."

Both churches were packed with parishioners happy to have their church open.
