NEW HAZELTON, British Columbia -- A car, reported abandoned for five days, has launched a massive search in New Hazelton, British Columbia for a man from North Ridgeville.
Warren "Andrew" Sill, 26, went to the area to do a documentary on the "Spirit Bear" (a rare white bear), and told family and friends it would take four or five days.
He last talked to his family in Northeast Ohio back on July 4.
His car was reported abandoned on July 10 by someone who noticed it at the entrance of Whisky Creek Trail since Thursday July 5.
According to a news release from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police: "Our search for Andrew Sill continues as we try to cover as much ground as possible including an aerial search with the assistance of a helicopter."
"The fact that this young man is not an avid hiker and he is not familiar with this terrain is very concerning," stated Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer.
Search and rescue crews along with volunteers are looking for Sill with dogs, ATVs and helicopters.
