DARE COUNTY , N.C. -- At an afternoon press conference, Dare County Sheriff J. D. Doughtie said Lynn Jackenheimer, 33, of Ashland, Ohio, died from strangulation and stab wounds.

The search continues for her estranged boyfriend Nate Summerfield, 27.

He said the Dare County Medical Examiner's Office in Greenville, North Carolina, determined that Jackenheimer died from being strangled and stabbed. He declined to say how many stab wounds there were.

On Monday, authorities confirmed that a body found in some brush in Frisco, North Carolina, on Saturday afternoon was Jackenheimer.

He added that an arrest warrant was issued for Summerfield

Friends of Jackenheimer started a Facebook page Help Find Nate Summerfield to get the word out.

Doughtie also said that the warrant with Summerfield's information had been entered "into NCIC, the national crime database, and he is listed nationally as a wanted person for this charge."

"The US Marshals Office, Eastern District of North Carolina, has been notified and they are assisting the US Marshals Office in Ohio and the Ashland County Sheriff's Office in locating Nathan Summerfield."

Jackenheimer was last seen July 7 while on a vacation to the Outer Banks with Summerfield, their 3-year-old son and her 13-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

Summerfield returned the children to Ashland and then told his brother that he had strangled Jackenheimer.

He then drove off in his dark grey metallic 2009 Honda Civic, with an Ohio license plate of FMV7540, and has not been seen since.
