PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP -- A motorcyclist is in the hospital after a crash with a dump truck Wednesday morning.
Lake County Sheriff's deputies say they were called to Blackbrook Road in Painesville Township at 7:45 a.m. for a reported three-vehicle injury.
Deputies said a teenager, 17, from Painesville Township, was operating a dump truck driving east on Blackbrook. While turning left into a private driveway, his field of view was compromised due to sun glare, deputies said.
As he turned, he turned into the path of a motorcycle traveling westbound driven by Rocky Edmonds, 49, of Painesville Township.
Edmonds was not wearing helmet and was ejected from the motorcycle. After initial impact, deputies said the motorcycle slid across the center line and into the eastbound lane of Blackbrook, striking the left rear end of a 4-door blue Chevy .
The teenager and the driver of the Chevy were not injured.
Edmonds sustained head trauma and was taken to Tri-Point Hospital for a medical evaluation. The accident is still under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, but deputies say that the teenage dump truck driver failed to yield to Edmonds when making a left hand turn.
