WEATHERSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Ohio State Highway Patrol in Trumbull County is investigating a fatal crash involving the car of a missing Akron man.

The car, a 2007 Mazda Speed6, is registered to Jorry Palm, 28, of Akron. A helicopter pilot had reportedly spotted the vehicle in a swampy pond off Route 46 a few miles north of I-80.

Early stages of the investigation indicate the driver, believed to be Palm, may have accidentally failed to maneuver a bend in the road, which caused the vehicle to skid into the swamp.

Palm was reported missing on June 9, 2012.

The driver's identity will be determined by the Trumbull County Coroner's Office.

The time of the crash and additional details are still under investigation.
