LONDON -- Hiram's Bridget Franek has advanced to the finals of the 3,000m steeplechase at the 2012 London Olympics. She will race for gold on Monday.
Franek qualified for the medal race by finishing in a time of 9:29:86.
The event involves 7-and-a-half laps around the track and includes a hurdle in each lap, one of which has a water hazard. The event is just under two miles.
Bridget came to running quite naturally-following in her parents' example. She went on to find success at Penn State before moving on to the Olympic stage.
