Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica defeated Team USA's, Carmelita Jeter, for gold. Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica earned the bronze.

The win meant that Fraser-Pryce became only the second woman after Gail Devers to win the 100m in back-to-back Olympics.
