BROOK PARK -- An employee has been arrested in an arson at a Brook Park trucking company.
Fire raced through Valley Sterling Trucks on August 6 causing $4 million in damages. The fire could be seen for miles from the company's West 150th Street location.
Police say a 54-year-old Canton man who worked at the company has been taken into custody and is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail pending a grand jury hearing on aggravated arson.
"While no investigation is completely finished until the jury renders its verdict, today marks a significant milestone towards closure of this pointless crime", said Chief James Foster, Brook Park Police Department. "This investigation was successful due to the partnerships and collaboration of all of the agencies involved", added Foster.
Brook Park Police, Brook Park Fire, the State Fire Marshal and the ATF investigated the fire.
"This act of arson endangered the lives of not only first responders, but the general public as well, and we are very thankful that no one was injured because of this violent act," said Robin Shoemaker, Special Agent in Charge, ATF, Columbus Field Division.
