CLEVELAND -- Some of the Cleveland schools had their first day of class Wednesday. As they start the year, there are many challenges.
The Cleveland Municipal School District laid off hundreds of teachers in June, and the district will attempt to pass a 15-mill school levy in November.
In addition, many of the district's best schools still have a lot of empty seats.
The new and innovative schools are some of the highest achieving schools, but some are only half full. The district is trying to get the word out to parents.
