MENTOR, Ohio -- A police standoff on Mansion Boulevard in Mentor ended peacefully just after midnight Thursday.
The incident began just before 7 p.m., off of Center Street.
Officers were speaking to a man at the scene of a disturbance call they responded to at Mentor Square Apartments, when the man ran from them.
He appeared to have a gun in his waistband, police said.
Police then set up a perimeter in the area and began searching for the man, later identified by police as Antonio F. Iaconianni, 24, of Mentor-on-the-Lake.
They found him under a porch on Mansion Boulevard. After refusing to come out when police ordered him to surrender, he was sprayed with pepper spray.
Iaconianni then pointed his gun at officers. Police then secured the perimeter until Mentor SWAT and hostage negotiators arrived.
After several hours of negotiating, he surrendered to police at about 12:10 a.m. Friday.
He was taken to the city jail, charged with aggravated menacing, obstructing official business and carrying a concealed weapon.
He will appear in court for arraignment Friday morning.
It is unclear if anyone was inside the home with the porch where Iaconianni was hiding while the standoff was going on.
