CLEVELAND -- Gang activity on Cleveland's east side led to a standoff and shootings overnight, including one that is now a homicide.

Early Friday morning, police responded to a gang-related gunfight at East 71st Street and Donald Avenue.

One person from that shootout was cornered by police on Addison Road at Bonna Avenue. That person was arrested after a standoff with police, just before 3 a.m., police said.

Within an hour, police say they received a call from someone threatening more violence.

Before 4 a.m., two men were shot in an attempted robbery by three men while walking their dog on Hecker Avenue, between Addison and E. 71st.

Both victims, ages 21 and 22, were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. Police confirm that the 21-year-old man died at the hospital.

Police were searching the crime scene area for shell casings and guns, shortly after the victims were taken to the hospital.

Shootouts between the two gangs were reported throughout the overnight hours, as early as midnight, police said.

Friday evening, police made four arrests in this case: O'Neal Crenshaw, 35, of Cleveland; Nichole Woods, 37, of Cleveland; Derrick Johnson, 19, of Cleveland and Maurice Golden, 20, of Euclid.

All four suspects are being held in the city jail.

Police are still investigating.
