YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Police say an 8-year-old northeast Ohio boy sleeping in a bunk bed died when he was struck by shots fired from across the street.
Youngstown Police Chief Rod Foley said as many as a dozen rounds from a semi-automatic weapon were fired into the house where the boy was sleeping at about 1:15 a.m. Monday. The house next door was hit, too.
The (Youngstown) Vindicator (http://bit.ly/PqJQLM) reports that the boy was sleeping in the top bunk in his bedroom when he was hit in the head with shots from a military-style weapon.
Foley declined to release any more details of the shooting. Police don't know of anyone else being shot, and nobody has been arrested.
